Anthrax outbreak in Sakatchewan
#1
Seven animals have been confirmed to have died of anthrax in Saskatchewan in an area south east of Regina.
Anthrax survives in a spore state in the soil and can infect animals if anything disturbs the soil and brings the animals into contact with the spores.

This is serious and could be a problem if the outbreak spreads. The dry conditions in some areas were just right for the spores to be spread. Hopefully this outbreak has been contained. There is danger of it spreading to other farm animals and there is danger for wild animals like buffalo and antelope. It would be very bad if anthrax got into the  herds of bison.  I am glad they are being so vigilant in testing the dead animals so they know the dangers and can take precautions.
