How do you eat something that you have developed a bond with. Or how do you live with a dog or cat and not develop a bond.

I worry about people who have no feelings of empathy.

The jokes about eating my animals are a sign of social ineptness. How socially awkward would you have to be joke about eating someone's pet? It is really very sad for the person saying it.
