50,000 Bees rescued
#1
This is a happy news story. A home in a town near Toronto became the choice of local bees. They estimate there were 50,000 bees in the hive.
It is sad that last year they exterminated them. At least this time they found someone who rescues bees to come and take care of them. The bees will be set up in hives and will go on to make many more pounds of honey and pollinate countless plants.

It is good news for everyone.

They do need to figure out how the bees got in and seal the hole.

What is remarkable and encouraging is how much interest there is in saving the bees. Ontario has an active Bee Keeping Association.

They list three different bee rescue groups. It is nice to know that bees are being taken seriously.

Brilliant news! It's hard to take on board that last year the hive was exterminated! Change for the better -again. People are always so scared of bees. But they needn't be, as bees are not like wasps, and will not attack or sting unless there is a real danger to them.
You will not believe this! But as I typed the above...a small wild bee came out of the chimney, looking nonplussed, and landed next to my laptop! If that's not 'a sign' I don't know what is. I scooped it up carefully and let it out the window.

I would take that as a sign that you have a bee friendly place.

Yes, I noticed that they tried extermination first. That is sad, but at least they made the choice to have the second set of bees rescued.
That is a huge number of bees. In a world where bees are dying, fifty thousand is a cause for celebration.

I am amazed at the number of bee rescues an bee keeping groups that exist in my area. There is a real movement to save bees.

I don't reject wasps either. I get along with my local wasps. They have a place in the ecosystem. I find if you stay calm around them they are calm as well.

I don't have 50,000 bees, but every time I garden I see a lot of different kinds of bees. They must have hive somewhere around here. Of course I am close enough to the down town where there are hives on high rise roof tops. Maybe my bees come from there.
