Endangered Species Act Turns 42
#1
The Endangered Species Act turns 42. It was a brilliant idea when it was first conceived.
I suspect that more species would be gone if they hadn't received protection.
Some have even improved.
The important thing is that it acknowledged that animals were in danger.
By naming some animals they gave a face to animals in danger of extinction.

The act may not be perfect and it may not seem to have done all that much, but its very existence has made people aware and that has help animals everywhere. So on this 42nd anniversary let us remember the brilliance of the people who had the idea that animals should be protected.

Yes, we must protect the animals and be their voice. I so wish the animals could talk and speak up for themselves, the poor things.

I would have been around 20 when they created the Endangered Species Act. I don't remember it happening.
Maybe I didn't really understand how important it was.

Since animals don't have a voice we have to do what we can.  Looking back I can see how very important this first step was.
