Man charged for assaulting police dog
#1
A man in Edmonton, fleeing the police, assaulted the police dog that stopped him.
He has now been charged under Quanto's Law. Quanto was a police dog who was killed in the line of duty. A new law was created to make it a more serious crime to hurt a service animal.

I am glad they have more legal protection for police dogs. No dog should ever be assaulted, but it is worse when it is a dog who is doing his job.

Good. Quanto's Law may put off any criminals if they think of hurting a police dog...or anyone else who hurts a service dog.

I hope the police dog is okay and recovering.

The dog is okay and will be back to work soon enough.  Other places are putting in laws to protect service animals.

The USA has a federal law protecting police dogs and dogs working in  related ways areas.

Dogs risk their lives to serve us. We should be able to protect them.
