Tell Hallmark to stop exploiting chimps!
#1
For those who don't know, Hallmark is a big greeting card company. We always laugh that they have a Hallmark card for every occasion.

I didn't know they have pictures of chimps in costumes on some of their cards. These chimps are held at the Missouri Primate Foundation is deplorable conditions.

First Hallmark MUST stop selling these cards. They Must reject using animals this way.

The Missouri Primate Foundation Must retire its chimps to a sanctuary. They have suffered long enough and deserve a chance at a happy life.

There are beautiful Chimpanzee sanctuaries right in the USA and the chimps could be moved there and they could live out their lives in peace.
Chimp Haven is one such sanctuary. Compare the chimps in their videos to the ones at the Missouri Primate Foundation.

Hallmark has an obligation  because of all the profits they made from chimp greeting cards, to now help the chimps to retire in peace. Let's push them in that direction.

Oh this is terrible Catherine. I didn't know Hallmark were involved in mistreatment of animals like that. Those poor chimps.

I signed. It's time to stop treating creatures badly for our entertainment.

I think there are lots of things we don't know about companies. I have never seen the chimp cards here in Canada. Even if I had seen them, would I have understood what I was seeing?

We just have to keep pushing for companies to do better. Those chimp cards date back to a time when  people exploited animals without a second thought. Now we know it is wrong. A responsible ethical company should act to undo any damage they have done.
Hallmark was part of chimps being exploited and mistreated. To fix that they need to be part of sending the chimps to a sanctuary. Anything less than that tells us they are not an ethical company and we should give them no further business.

There is another big chimp sanctuary called Sun Coast Primate Sanctuary. It is a beautiful place with caring history.
If you scroll down on the article there are a lot of other good stories worth reading.

I am glad the NASA chimps found a good home at Sun Coast Primate Sanctuary. There is no reason not to retire the Missouri chimps. There are a number of good sanctuaries that could give them a home. There is no excuse for treating chimps so badly.
