Marineland Ontario charged with animal cruelty...again.
#1
Marineland Ontario has been at odds with the OSPCA for many reasons. This time they are being charged because of how they treat their Elk, Red Deer and Fallow Deer. The issue as usual is the level of care they receive.

Their ads have an annoying song "Everyone loves Marineland". Clearly not everyone loves Marineland. They keep their animals there to make money from them. Making money is their first priority. In a situation like that animal care ends up being secondary.

I don't know what will happen when they go to court, but this is not the first set of charges. Something needs to be done.

Oh....this is dreadful. Marineland needs to change what they do. People must not let them carry on what they are doing.
I hate the whole "animals for entertainment" business.

It is not totally clear what Marineland did wrong, but bits of the story are coming out.

There have been ongoing charges for years. I think what is clear is that animals kept for profit are not given the care they need to live happy lives. It is time Marineland got out of the animal business. They could run a fine water park with slides and junk food and everyone would be happy. Leave the animals out of it.

I guess Marineland is the equivalent of Seaworld?

I can't fathom they have 35 bears all together in that poorly executed enclosure. In the picture people are right over the bears, able to give them anything. The whole place is disturbing. Blaming it on activists and an ex employee seeking revenge? Instead of saying something like "we'll strive to do better and make improvements". Wow.
I hate places where there is unsupervised feeding of animals. Like, no wonder the animals get sick?

Marineland is like SeaWorld only more annoying and less responsible about there animals. That set up with the bears is scary. There are too many bears and as you say people can toss anything in.

I think the dear were in even worse situations.

There has been pressure on Marineland to close or give up its animals. Protestors have kept up the pressure, but they won't give up while they are making money. They certainly have done nothing to help the animals. If you improve the animal care, it is like admitting you were wrong in the first place. They will never do that.

It is a sad place. I would only go there as a protestor.
