Sea Turtle Trackers
#1
This is sea turtle nesting season along the Florida coast. Sea turtles need help to protect their nests and ensure that the hatchlings make it to the sea. A group of volunteers called Sea Turtle Trackers patrols the beaches and marks the nests and posts warning signs.  Without their work many turtle eggs would never hatch and the hatchlings wouldn't make it to the sea.

The good news is that there are many more nests than they were expecting. The volunteers are run off their feet keeping up with all the eggs, but that is a happy problem to have. Hopefully this means there will be more baby turtles who actually survive. Even a small increase is a big thing for species that are so endangered.

We owe a big thank-you to the Sea Turtle Trackers for their dedication to helping baby sea turtles to survive.
