Climate change threatens coffee and bees
#1
We don't usually think about bees and coffee at the same time, but the same rise in temperature will effect both. Bees are key to coffee production, but they will not be able to withstand warmer temperatures.  Much land that is good for coffee now will no longer work if the temperature is higher.

There are complex issues at work here. Many people in the world depend on coffee economically. Think of the numbers of people from the plantations where it is grown to the people who serve you a cup in a coffee shop. Global warming will have a major economic impact if we don't find was to mitigate the effects.

Planting trees to shade the coffee is such a basic way to help the situation. The trees will also provide oxygen and habitats for animals. We are not helpless here. There are thing we can do. First we must reverse climate change or at least prevent it from getting worse. Planting more trees will help solve many problems. It will take a lot of trees.

Reducing carbon emissions would be a good move too. We either act now or we face a very different world, one we might not like so much. I am not prepared to live without coffee...and a whole lot of other things.
