"Lefty" snail dies
#1
A rare left coiled snail was found in a compost heap in England years ago. Named Jeremy he has been studied by scientists even since. In an effort to know if the left handed snail shell was an accident or heredity an appeal was made to find Jeremy a mate.
Six more lefties were found. So now Jeremy has died of old age, but he leaves offspring. So the study goes on.

Being a lefthander I am always happy to hear about another lefthander.
It is an odd phenomena whether it is developmental or inherited. A small percentage of us are lefties in a right handed world.
I don't know about snails, but human lefties tend to be the creative types like Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci.

Just in case you are curious: famous left handed people.

Being a leftie must mean something. After all, do you know any other snails that are famous?
