The left behind dogs
#1
There are always dogs at the animal shelters who need homes. The good looking ones get adopted. The dogs that have had spectacular rescues or who have been horribly abused also get adopted. It is the quiet ones who are good dogs who have fallen on hard times who sit there for a year, even years and always get over looked. Things haven't been perfect for them, but not bad enough to draw attention.

Sally is one such dog. At nine years old and more than a year at a shelter she was losing hope. If someone hadn't intervened she would still be there.

Sally was a lucky one in the end. She found a forever home. There are many more like Sally sitting in shelters losing hope.
That is the dog you should look for if you go to the shelter. Someone else will take the pretty dog. Give the sad unwanted dog a chance. It will be forever grateful.

I adopted the guinea pig who had been at the shelter for a year. No one wanted him. He was not cute and seemed withdrawn. Frodo turned out to be the most fun pet I have ever had. He really wasn't cute. He was sort of cross eyed, but he was very clever.
