Dog Dies in heartbreaking Cruelty Case
#1
There is a very sad animal cruelty case in Duncan BC. The dog was tied by a short chain in its own waste. It was starved and neglected and the chain was deeply embedded in the neck.
Sadly the dog only survived two days after its rescue.

How did no one notice the dog sooner. Even a few days might have made a difference.  Smiley19

What really strikes me is how small the penalty is for such cruelty. They could end up with a fine of a few thousand dollars.
They could get jail time, but even that would be short. They are unlikely to get a jail sentence.

Our laws are just too weak to protect animals from lives of suffering.

This is not the first case of cruelty on Vancouver Island recently. Is there something about the people there?

You were right about the location being in the news lately. Maybe that is why this story stuck in my mind and I wanted to post it.
The one I posted and two of yours were in Duncan BC. The other one was in Lantzville, just north of Duncan.

It is a beautiful place to live.

It is a place of tourism and it is very peaceful. The mountains surround it and it is on the east side of Vancouver Island. Life there would be very mellow. It has a milder climate than the rest of Canada.

Molly the pig that was eaten by the couple that adopted her also was from Duncan BC.

I can't imagine why there would be so much animal abuse in such a small area.
It is an area that needs more research. I wonder if there are other cases.
