30 Dogs Rescued from Northern Manitoba.
#1
The Thunder Bay District Humane Society has just accepted 30 dogs from the Manitoba Underdogs Rescue.
The Manitoba Underdogs Rescue finds homes for unwanted dogs in Manitoba. This time they brought 37 dogs from the Chemawawin Cree Nation, which is located 5 hours north of Winnipeg. In such a remote location strays a not just a problem, they are a danger. Dogs can form packs that endanger the community. There isn't the population base to adopt and care for these animals. Bringing them south to bigger towns and cities gives the dogs a chance.
This is the first time Thunder Bay has helped out.

You know a community is remote when Thunder Bay is the bigger city the dogs are being brought to. I can see that it is a good choice for the dogs. They are used to a pretty wild area and Thunder Bay is not that big and there is wilderness all around it.

It is going to take years of work to sort out the stray problem in the remote northern communities. There are no resources to deal with the dogs. I am really happy to hear that a group like the Manitoba Underdogs Rescue is part of solving the problem.

There are some amazing rescues out there. We don't always hear about them, but they are there, doing good work and helping animals.
I am especially proud this time since Manitoba is my home.
