Canada closes fishing areas after Right Whales spotted
#1
Thumbs Up
Canada has taken measures to protect the very endangered Right Whales. Two Right Whales were spotted in the Gulf of St Lawrence. Six different fishing areas have been shut down to protect the whales. Other measures have been brought in to protect the whales and other marine mammals.

I don't know if it will be enough, but at least we are trying.  The Right Whales are very much in danger of extinction. Last year was a bad year with a large number found dead in the area. Twelve were found dead in Canadian waters and 6 in American waters. We need to do everything possible to help them.

It is amazing that there are two whales and it is also very sad. I am sure there was a time when there were many whales swimming in these waters. Now we rush to protect two, the only two we have seen so far. How did we let ourselves get into such a mess.

I just hope it is enough to help. There are so few Right Whales left.
