Ban on Neonicotinoids lifted in the USA
#1
This is very bad news. The ban on Neonicotinoids was just a start at protecting our bees and other pollinators. It had not had enough time to restore things. It would take many more years for population decline to reverse itself. Lifting the ban is a terrible thing. It puts pollinators and birds and whole ecosystems at risk. It makes no sense to do something so reckless and dangerous to the future of things like food production and the environment.

Even if someone doesn't care about the environment, selfishness should push them to protect things that make life better for them. Bees, pollinators in general and healthy ecosystems work to produce the food we eat, even the air we breath. Why wouldn't we want to protect those things.
Of course we should want to protect them because it is the right thing to do, but it is asking too much to expect some people to be motivated by doing the right thing.

Yes, this was on BBC news some while ago. An appalling backward step, which is bad for nature and the world generally.

Sadly, this does not surprise me as a policy of a near-sighted govenment.
Utter stupidity.
Mind you, at the time of election, the people only had two choices, and they were both as bad as each other (sorry -only my personal opinion.)

I wonder if people are capable of imagining what they would have to pay for human-pollinated fruit and vegetables?

Oh yes....Monsanto would come up with some "solution" of course......
Which is sinister but may be what this is all about?

That is a scary thought that had not yet crossed my mind. If I plan to have nightmares, I have plenty of things to have nightmares about.

It is bad that they want to damage their own country. Unfortunately everything done south of the border also effects my country. Wind and water travel across borders bringing toxic chemicals with them.

A comedian put it very well: Out of a country of over 300 million, those were the two best people they could find?
