Save manatees, dolphins, sea turtles..
#1
Quote:When hundreds of dead manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, and other marine mammals started washing up all over Florida's beach shores, the cause was no real surprise. A toxic combination of a red tide, blue-green algae and brown algae have been plaguing Florida's waters, creating red and green slime that is killing off sea animals and making beachgoers and their pets fall ill.

I read about the manatee deaths.  Many are being blamed on the red tide.

There has been an increase in the number of manatee deaths and the deaths of other marine animals like sharks, fish and turtles.

The issue is complex because there is naturally occurring red tide combined with blue/green agal blooms. These algal blooms are aggravated by manure runoff into streams that run into the ocean.

As you can see human activity plays a part in the manatee and other animal die offs.  Some parts of this we can't control, but we can create better solution to handling manure and chemical waste. Letting them run into the ocean is having deadly consequences.

Humans are effected by this too so even people who do not care about animals should have some concern for this situation.
Manatees have suffered enough from human activity.  They need us to make a better effort to protect them.
