Animals and the California wildfires
#1
Right now California is in the grip of deadly wild fires. Sadly people have been killed and a lot of property destroyed.
What about the animals of California. How are they doing?

There are lots of animals in need, but there are people trying to help them.

We know many animals will be lost. For many that survived there is no home to go back to and sometimes no owner either.
This is a terrible disaster and in spite of the losses there are wonderful rescues taking place. I have a lot of respect for the people out there in danger doing what they can to rescue animals of all kinds.

I have been thinking about all the animals caught up in the wildfires. I am glad there is an organised effort to help them.

We have to feel for them. Fire is such a horrible experience for every one, people and animals.

This is a National Geographic article about wildfires.

I can't imagine what it is like for people to live through things like this. However I grew up in Manitoba and I have driven through areas hit by a fire. It is hard to see them  burned out and destroyed when they were full of life a short time before.

I am happy to see that all animals are being helped. I think that was very good thinking to put animals like horses on the beach. The fire couldn't reach them there. I notice that the alpacas were saved. That is a good reason to be happy.

We know many animals didn't make it. Many people didn't make it too. We can be sad for them, but we can also be glad for the ones that made it and be thankful for those brave people who are rescuing them.
