American hunter kills rare mountain goat.
#1
An American hunter paid $110,000 to hunt and kill an Astore Markhor, a rare Himalayan mountain goat.
Then of course he posted pictures of himself with the dead animal. There are not many of them left so each kill like this  puts the species at risk.

This is an alarming trend. Rich people are paying large sums of money so they can kill endangered and rare species.
It makes no sense. The hunter is led to the kill so there is no hunting skill involved. The hunters want to kill the biggest and the best example of a species. They reduce the species numbers and they weaken their gene pool. They should take an ecotour instead and help the species out.

Ecotours help protect a species and actually benefit an area. They create jobs and protect the animals. With an ecotour the same goat could be viewed over and over again by different groups of people. A dead goat can only be viewed once. We might not be able to change hunters, but maybe we can appeal to countries that sell hunts. They could earn more money by selling viewing rights than they ever could from selling hunting rights.
