Botswana thinking of turning elephants into pet food.
#1
This is just unbelievable. Botswana is thinking of using elephants for pet food.
They are thinking of lifting the hunting ban on elephants and allowing elephant culls.

There is already a terrible amount of elephant poaching. Adding hunting and culls just puts more strain on a species that is already at risk. The pet food idea just makes it more disgusting. When the world is trying to move forward in the area of conservation, Botswana wants to go back a couple of centuries. Angry

They really are considering doing this. The government of Botswana has stated that the hunting ban was not permanent.
If they lift the hunting ban  then more will follow. Culls and being used as pet food could well be the fate of the elephants of Botswana.

The only thing that might stop this is a strong public outcry against it. Elephants have struggled to rebuild their numbers. It would be sad to throw it away. If there  are human/elephant conflicts then they need to find a slolution that doesn't involve killing the elephants.
