Yulin bans dogmeat
#1
I am  on my phone so I can't post the article ,  but Yulin has banned dog meat and I wanted to announce  it right away. As soon as I get home I will  post more.....

Okay I am home. I can't find a lot of articles, but I have found two. It is a temporary ban that covers the time period of the festival.

It's a start. Even if it just a trial ban it shows that the strong disapproval is of the festival is being taken seriously.

This is excellent news. I will try to find out some more about it.
But for now -a victory.
I very much hope this is the start of a complete ban.
It is a wonderful start.
I wonder what will happen to all the dogs now who were in confinement in other places waiting to be transported to Yulin?

(edit) I found this short article too. It seems to have been decided by government officials for the area.

Whether the 11 million signatures on a number of petitions presented had an effect....well maybe they did. And those will be petitions that we signed.

I suspect all the signatures on all the petitions over the years have had an effect. They helped keep the pressure up. The petitions also would have been a source of encouragement for the activists in China. There is no doubt this is their victory.
It is the hard work they have done that has turned public opinion against dog eating.

I know it is a temporary ban, in just one place, but it is possibly the beginning of the end for the whole dog meat industry.
We have to keep the pressure up until it is a permanent ban everywhere. For once it is possible to believe that this could happen.
