Botswana lifts ban on elephant hunting.
#1
Botswana has chosen to lift its ban on elephant hunting. The ban has only been around since 2014 so elephant numbers can't have recovered enough for hunting to be sustainable. There are political reasons for allowing elephant hunting.
It has nothing to do with the health of the ecosystem and the survival of species

It is a sad step backwards. Botswana has a reputation for conservation efforts, but that will be lost. There is a thriving ecotourism industry and that will be at risk. People do not spend thousands of dollars to look at dead elephants. People want to see thriving herds.

Then there is the elephants. So much is lost when we kill these big beautiful creatures. It is a sad day for everyone when the hunters start arriving. Smiley19
