Spanish Greyhound Rescue
#1
I was out walking today and I encountered the most beautiful dog. It was a greyhound, but it was different. So I asked and found out that she was a new rescue greyhound from Spain.

The Spanish Greyhounds are known as Galgos and they are used for hunting. At the end of hunting season they are often just disposed of.

The fact that I saw a Galgos on the streets of Toronto is a sign that the dogs are being rescued. It may take a while to change the attitudes and prevent all abuse of these beautiful dogs. For now, at least some dogs are being rescued.

I have learned of the plight of these galgos  for a while now.  It is the most awful cruelty. There is a Rescue in Spain which helps many of these dogs.
I am glad to hear so much work is being done to help them, and that the dogs are finding happy homes where they will be loved -and as far away as Toronto!

It was such a beautiful, gentle dog. I have read about them being rescued. I just never expected to see one.
It is sad to think of such wonderful dogs being mistreated. I hope there are many more in Toronto. If I get to see them that is even better.

It's the same as just normal greyhounds some of the horrific things they do to them,my sister adopted a greyhound she was too small to race.

Greyhounds are such beautiful, graceful dogs. They are so gentle and yet they are so mistreated.
I think greyhounds are abused everywhere in the world. It is only the greyhound rescue people that do right by them.
Your sister's dog must have been beautiful. A slightly smaller greyhound would be so delicate looking. I know the Spanish dog that I met was really lovely. It was a shiny black and a bit smaller than a regular greyhound. That is why I asked about her.

Daisy is lovely everyone loves her, my sister lives in a seaside town and when she goes for a walk the dog gets more hellos than my sister does.

I can believe that everyone talks to the Daisy. I want to greet every greyhound that I meet. They are so gentle looking that I want to hug them. Daisy would be everyone's favourite dog. I have never met her and I want to give her a big hug. Taking her for a walk would be like escorting a celebrity. Your sister must have fun walking her.
