Three more Orcas dead.

Three more Orcas from the southern resident population have been declared dead. They have lost an older matriarch and two other adults. This brings the population down to 73. That is very scary. The whole southern resident population is just barely hanging on.

There have been some changes made to protect the whales. Ships may not approach closely. Some fishing in the area has been closed. There is still a problem with depleted salmon socks and habitat loss and degradation. We have done so much to bring the whales to this point. I just hope all our efforts now are enough.
