There are lots of sad stories, but there are also many happy ones. People acted quickly and did what they could to save animals from the storm. One woman took 100 dogs into her house. Almost 80 of them hide out in her bedroom.
The police checked out an abandoned vehicle and were in time to save a small puppy. Many people did much good.

We can smile at all the lives that were saved by caring people.
Sadly a little bird called the Bahama Nuthatch, may have gone extinct. The numbers were very low and it is feared that none survived the storm. We can hope, but little birds do not do well in hurricanes.
It will take a lot to rebuild and many pets may not be reunited with their owners, but many will and we have to be happy with that.
