Baby deer shelter from the storm in a living room
#11
Toronto has quite a time with its raccoons. They climb construction cranes and ride on our subways. They can open doors and windows.
We love them and hate them. When a young raccoon was killed on the street people built a memorial beside its body and we all felt sad at its passing.
We call them Trash Pandas, but we mean it affectionately. They are our trash pandas and they do make life interesting.

The city spent a lot of money designing a raccoon proof garbage bin. It took the raccoons less time to figure out how to open it.

They are intelligent and they pass knowledge on to their young.  They can learn from observing. A raccoon was actually video taped riding a subway train. He was not lost. When it arrived at his station he confidently got off. Pigeons do the same. With their almost human hands raccoons can do almost anything. They are also really cute as babies. They can be a nuisance, but they do make life interesting.

They just look so cute sitting there in the living room. They knew there was a storm coming and they knew  where to get help.
Clearly the local wildlife know they can trust this woman. They knew her place was safer than being outside in a storm.
It would be nice to be so trusted by local wildlife that they come to you for help. Of course she must have earned their trust over time.
