Moose poachers caught and convicted
#1
An anti poaching operation in New Brunswick Canada has caught six moose poachers. The nine month operation caught the poachers and also  25 rifles, 2  half ton trucks and 40 sets of moose antlers.
They have been charged and given jail terms and fines. The sentences vary, but the one man pleaded guilty to 27 violations and has a 156 day jail sentence, a $54,500 fine and a life time ban on hunting. Other sentences range from 14 days to 70 days and $9,000-12,200 in fines.

I am glad they shut down moose poaching in the area. It is horrible to think of 40 dead moose. Moose are gentle creatures who are just trying to survive. Poachers are killing them when they are vulnerable or when they have calves. They have no regard for the animals and their lives.

I am glad the fines were high and that they all got some level of jail sentence. Even better is the life time ban on  hunting.
It may not stop all poachers, but it will discourage some.
