Save Our Scruff brings dogs to Canada
#1
Save Our Scruff was founded in 2014 and since then they have adopted out 1,700 dogs. More than half are from outside of Canada.
They bring dogs from places like Mexico, Egypt, and El Salvador. This latest group of dogs is from Tennessee. Many times the dogs are flown in, but this time they traveled in a van to the Toronto area. Now they are here they will be adopted out to forever homes.

Save Our Scruff is one of the newer kind of rescues. They do not have a big shelter to house the dogs. They are in foster homes. The group is mostly run by volunteers. The dogs have an online profile that people look at before they see the dog. In this online age the method is working.

Dogs are sometimes brought to Canada by "flight parents". These are people returning from a vacation who bring a dog with them when they return. The dog is brought to the airport and in picked up at the other end. The flight parents let the dog travel with them on their ticket. The extra fees are paid for by the rescue group. This is a unique way to help rescue a dog. Many people want to help in some way. They are going to be returning to Canada anyhow. They may as well help a dog.

We are seeing increasing numbers of rescues and different types of rescues. Where ever there are dogs in need there are groups that can help bring them to places where they can find homes. Maybe some day the world stray dog problem will be a thing of the past.
The situation is certainly improving in many places. It has certainly improved for this latest group of dogs to arrive in Toronto.
