Injured Hornbill gets 3D printed bill
#1
A Hornbill was found injured in Thailand. It had a damaged wing and the lower bill was snapped off. Without the lower bill the bird would be unable to eat.
So they fashioned a 3D printed bill and glued it in place. It has taken a few replacement parts, but the bird can eat.  Sadly the wing damage has left the bird unable to fly so it probably can't be released to the wild.

It is fortunate that the bird was found in time. Without being able to eat or fly it would have had little chance of survival.
It is amazing what they can do with 3D printers. Even if he lives out his life in a bird sanctuary he is still going to be living out his life.  He clearly has a will to live
and he is very adaptable. I hope he does okay.
