Hong Kong customs siezes 26 tonnes of shark fins
#1
Sad
Hong Kong customs made their largest bust ever when the seized 26 tonnes of shark fins.
They were found in shipping containers from Ecuador and are worth  more than a million dollars. It is estimated that they are the fins of 31,000 thresher sharks and 7,500 silky sharks.

This means that 38,500 sharks had their fins cut of while they were still alive. They then were tossed back into the see to die slowly.
It is good that this shipment was stopped. It will be better when those responsible are caught and dealt with. It will be better still when the practice of shark finning is stopped and no more sharks die cruel deaths.

Never eat shark fin soup and never eat in a restaurant that serves shark fin soup. We do not want to support this animal trade in any way.
