No Mow May
#1
The idea of No Mow May is to let the grass grow and the wildflowers flourish for the sake of local bee populations.
In the context of Torontonians staying at home because of the Pandemic it makes sense to encourage people to leave their lawns alone. It also works in other times and places. Anywhere you let the grass and the flowers grow you provide for the needs of bees and other pollinators.

Bees and other pollinators are in serious decline. We need to do anything we can to help them. It turns out one of the best things we can do is nothing. By nothing I mean let things grow and do nothing to them. Nature will provide for the bees if we give nature a chance. When you fuss and fertilize you do more harm than good and you put the bees at risk. A well neglected lawn is a beautiful lawn because it is life giving. If every one of us let even a bit of land produce food for the pollinators we would contribute to their survival and the health of  local habitats.  So don't mow, let it grow!
