Happy World Bee Day!!!
#1
It is World Bee Day! Everyone rejoice and celebrate our little friends and the great things they do for us.

This is no exaggeration. Bees are a keystone creature. There are other pollinators and we celebrate them along with the bees  but bees are the
primary pollinators in every ecosystem. We need them.

The United Nations has a lot to say on the subject. The UN recognizes how important bees are.

We all need to recognize how important bees are.

It is still pretty cool here, but the bees are flying. We can count on the bees to work tirelessly to pollinate the world's plants. In return we need to help them out. Plant a bee friendly garden. Don't use pesticides. There are many little ways we can help. If we all do a few small things it will add up to a great many things. We better hope that is enough to save the bees.

Save the Bees=Save the Planet

They don't call them "busy bees" for nothing! They deserve our protection - but aren't getting enough in many parts of the world.

I am proud to say that Toronto declared itself a Bee City.

We even have an official City Bee.

I have actually seen the metallic green sweat bee in my garden. We have a lot of different bees in the city and many honey bee hives.
Pesticides were banned and people are working to plant bee friendly gardens. There is a strong focus on native plants that meet the needs of our bees and other pollinators.

We have a pollinator protection strategy.

We are doing what we can. It would help bees if more cities would focus on their needs and become bee cities.
