U.K. Covid 19 Kitten Crisis
Because of Covid 19 and the various stages of lockdown the U.K. has endured, vets have been restricted to emergency procedures only. That means they have not been allowed to perform ordinary spay/neuter  procedures. This has resulted in a real population explosion. Sometimes this has happen within one household.

People who had one female cat had no idea how fast she could produce multiple litters or how fast her kittens could start producing litters.
The  local shelters are going to try and help all the extra kittens.  It is going to be hard to place them all. What is really needed is the recognition that spaying a female cat is an emergency.  Without the procedure the number of kittens produced will be part of a country wide crisis.
