How animals keep cool
#1
Animals use various methods to keep themselves cool when the temperatures soar. Dogs pant. We all knew that. Elephants wave their ears and lose heat through them.  I love the lungfish, they burrow in the mud and stay they until the heat is over.
There are lots of different methods and animals find the one that works best for them.

Now that I think of it, on a hot day, hamsters would push all their bedding into a corner and stretch  out on the cooler floor of their cage.
Reptiles soak in the water to cool down. Around my place I can probably tell the temperature by how many snakes are soaking in their water dishes.
Guinea pigs just stretch out flat and lie quiet. I am guessing that with their bellies exposed they lose heat that way.

However they do it I hope they all find a way to cool off a bit. This is a  real bad heat spell and it shows no signs of letting up.
