"Kidnapped" fawn reunited with its mother
#1
Well meaning, but misguided people brought in a newborn fawn in to the Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation. The fawn was not actually orphaned or lost so they in effect, kidnapped it from its mother who had left it in a safe place. It was fortunate that they were able to reunite the fawn with its mother and all is well.

This time it ended well. Many times it doesn't.  Remember a few years ago the little baby Bison that was "rescued" in Yellowstone National Park? That rescue resulted in the baby's death. They were never able to reunite the little guy with his mother.

When it comes to baby wildlife, leave it alone. All the wildlife centers say the same thing every year and every year people bring in baby animals. It is not just the distress you cause the mother when she finds her baby gone, it is also the baby who has a reduced chance of survival and a normal life.

This one time the fawn was reunited with its mother. Better it was never removed in the first place. So often the baby cannot be reunited with the mother.
So, leave wildlife alone! It is that simple. If you really care you will let nature care for its own. Nature does a better job than us anyhow.
