Toronto Zoo building outdoor orangutan enclosure.
#1
The  six Toronto Zoo Orangutans have a lot of interesting space inside, but they have lacked an outdoor space.  We have hot, humid summers in Toronto and the Orangutans should love it outside. There has been talk of building an outside area for them and now it is happening. It was a complicated project to design, but all the details have been worked out and it could be completed by 2021.

I can't wait to see our Orangutans enjoying the new space. They are very intelligent creatures and they will love exploring somewhere new.
The  summer weather will be perfect for them. Spring and fall will mostly be okay. I bet they can even enjoy the odd winter day outside if it is not too cold.
They could give them parkas. They would probably wear them.

While we are talking about Orangutans we should remember that they are in trouble because of the palm oil industry.
Always buy products made with sustainable palm oil.

Orangutans in the wild are in desperate trouble because of the deforestation caused by the palm oil industry. Sustainable palm oil allows the orangutans to live along with the growth of palm trees. As consumers our actions and choices can make a life or death difference to  species like the Orangutans.
