Nestle produces insect based pet food
#1
Nestle's Purina Brand is now producing a line of pet food that uses insect based protien sources. This is a response to people's desire for more a eco-friendly pet food and for pet foods that are not made from factory farmed protien sources.

Times are changing and that is even reflected in our pet foods. People want healthy, safe sources of protein in their pet foods. Some people want to move away from meat consumption, even for their pets. This could be a healthy alternative that would satisfy a pets nutritional needs.

So would insect based pet food be considered vegetarian? Insects are animals  and I prefer to respect them. Would a vegan pet owner prefer this food to one made from actual meat?

Thoughts anyone?
