Virginia bans cosmetic testing on animals
#1
The state of Virginia, USA has passed a bill that bans new cosmetic animal testing and the sale of animal tested cosmetics!
This would go into effect on Jan 1, 2022.  That would make Virginia the fourth state to enact such a ban. California was first and then Nevada and Illinois.
New Jersey, Maryland, Rhode Island, Hawaii, New York and Oregon  are working on a ban.

This is a real sign that American governments, consumers and even cosmetics companies  are moving away from animal testing.

There are countries where there is already a ban on cosmetics testing.

The USA is a large consumer of products that in the past have been tested on animals.  As the country moves away from animal testing it will have a big impact even if the ban comes one state at a time. In response to changes in laws, companies will change how they produce things. There are already many companies that do not test on animals.

This is a pretty good list of cruelty free companies.

We now have choices. I know my shampoo etc.  is not the product of animal cruelty. I shop with my conscience. I don't harm animals and I don't want to use products that caused harm to animals. As we all make choices like this, more and more companies  will make the choice to be cruelty free. We can do this. We can end cosmetics testing on animals  by the day to day choices we make.
