Island of abandoned cats
#1
There is an island off of Brazil where people have been abandoning cats. During the pandemic the problem is getting worse. Even more cats have been abandoned.
They are multiplying so some of the cats are now born feral. They lack food and water. Tourists used to feed them, but for now there are no tourists.
There is no consensus on how to deal with the problem.

I don't suppose anyone in the area has the resources to deal with the problem. It is certain the longer things are left, the bigger the problem becomes. There are more cats abandoned and more kittens born. The presence of that many hungry cats is destroying the ecosystems of the island. Once again humans have created a disaster by introducing a species that doesn't belong and then letting them multiply. There needs to be an intervention for the sake of the island and for the sake of the cats who are suffering in an unsuitable habitat. Let us hope that they find a humane solution.
