France outlaws glue-trap hunting of song birds
#1
France has finally banned glue-trap hunting of song birds. The European Union  banned the practice in 1979. France was given an exemption from the ban as long as the use of the glue-traps was selective. It was shown that the practice was not selective and that birds other than the target birds were harmed and that birds in general suffered from the practice.

It is clearly a barbaric practice. Any bird caught in a glue trap would suffer in so many ways, physically and emotionally. How could a trap put out there with no supervision be selective and only target certain species. Good for France that it has finally banned the practice.   Many birds will be spared this summer because of the ban.
