Clean Meat treats for cats
#1
Clean meat is meat that has been grown in the lab from a few cells of an animal.
The company Because Animals wanted to produce alternative food for cats and dogs. They used a few cells from the ears of mice. Those mice are now happily living as pets. The cells were grown into meat that is used to flavour and provide nutrition for cat treats. These treats called Harmless Hunt Cultured Mouse Cat treats are just now entering the market.  They are still a start up company with a lot of possibilities ahead of them.
The medium they use to grow the "mouse meat" is actually vegan. That makes the products appealing to the vegan/vegetarian consumers.

This is promising technology. They are growing a meat substitute without harming animals.
How many times do we hear of a food recall because pet food has contaminated meat. People's pets have died. This has more potential to be clean and safe and toxin free. If pet food was made from safe cultured meat then food recalls and tragic pet deaths would be a thing of the past.
The meat could be a healthier alternative  to what is used now.

It is also cruelty free. No animals were harmed in the making of this meat.
If they can do mice then they could do other forms of meat. If this catches on, a whole range of products would be possible.
This could be the pet food of the future. It could be  leaner and healthier and our pets would live better.
We can feel good about it because no animals were harmed in the making of this food.

If the technique is good perhaps it can be applies to making human foods. Maybe not mouse meat, but there are lots of other possibilities.
