600 lb. sea turtle rescued after stranding
#1
A six hundred pound Leatherback  Sea Turtle was stranded of of Cape Cod. The Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, the New England Aquarium and the International Fund For Animal Welfare all worked together to rescue him. Each group had its skills and equipment and together they moved him to a safer spot where he could be assessed. He appeared to be in good health and he was safely released to the wild. He has been tagged so hopefully we will hear from him again.

That was quite a rescue. It is terrific that groups can coordinate like that. Each of them had something to contribute.
Most groups wouldn't be able to safely move an animal that big. It is wonderful to hear that it all worked out and the turtle is safely on his way again.
