Misguided "rescuers" cause a baby rabbit to die.
#1
A family outside of Ottawa raises rabbits. They sell them as pets and they take them to events. The rabbits are well loved and well cared for. They are comfortably housed in the back yard. Late one night two people  broke into their yard and took 19 rabbits. The police were called and the search was on. The next morning the Ottawa Humane Society found all 19 rabbits in one small dog crate. They had been outside the shelter most of the night, in the cold, with no food or water.
Sadly one baby rabbit was injured because of the crowded conditions in the small dog crate. It couldn't be saved.
Because the rabbits were left at the shelter, it is believed that the thieves thought they were rescuing the rabbits. Instead they took happy, well cared for pets and terrified them and cause one little rabbit to die.

Sometimes people think they are doing something good when they are really causing harm. If they had known anything about rabbits they would have been able to see that these rabbits were well cared for. If they wanted to "rescue" the rabbits they needed more than a small dog crate. They needed to feed the rabbits too.
They needed to separate the babies for their safety. The big rabbits didn't mean to hurt a baby, but they were all crammed into a small crate.
Sometimes "help" is not very helpful. If they thought there was a problem with the rabbits, they could have contacted the humane society or animal services.
If the rabbits had needed to be removed, it would have been done safely. No one would have been hurt.
In this case the rabbits were well looked after so they would have been spared a frightening experience.
