Catios, an outdoor experience for an indoor cat

There are many good reasons for keeping a cat indoors. The cat's safety is a very good reason. Safety of the local bird population is equally important.
It is important to keep a cat indoors, but it is nice to give them the outdoors experience. The way to do both is to build a Catio. They are an outdoor  cat enclosure. A Catio can be built on a balcony, a porch, a deck or in the back yard. Whatever space you have can be adapted.

This is a great idea. It lets a restless cat have more space and the stimulation of being outside without all the risks of being an outdoor cat.
It is the best of both world. The cat can even do bird watching, it just can't touch the birds.
