Bitterns making a comeback in Yorkshire.
#1
Bitterns are a rare bird and their numbers have been declining. They require reedbeds as their habitat.
Conservation groups have worked at restoring reedbeds. In particular a 200 hectare site called Old Moor has been replanted and restored as a reedbed.
Breeding pairs of Bitterns have been spotted there. In time the number will increase.

Whenever we start restoring habitats wildlife returns and life thrives. It would be better if we hadn't destroyed the habitat in the first place. It is just good to know that we can still fix some of the messes we have made.
