Tik Tok Emu has Avian Flu
#1
Avian flu is a tragedy. Millions of birds have died around the world. Sometimes it is hard to take in the loss of so many.
It is good to stop and look at a small loss where one person is affected.

Some wild geese visited Knuckle Bumps Farm. It is a small farm with birds like swans and Emus. The farm also has cows, deer and pigs.
Sadly, the wild geese carried the Avian Flu. More than 50 birds died in three days, including three Emus. All that are left are Rico the Swan and Emmanuel the Emu.
Emmanual is known as a TikTok star. Emmanuel contracted the Avian Flu and is very sick. He is being hand fed and given fluids regularly. His symptoms may be subsiding, and he could recover.
All his people can do is grieve their losses and work to keep Emmanuel alive.

The Avian Flu is travelling around the world wiping out colonies of wild birds. It is wiping out farms with many birds. It is destroying small farm sanctuaries.
There is no way to stop it because it is in the wild bird populations. We can't control where birds go.
I don't know if we could create a vaccine and if we did, how would we get it out there.
We have been so focused on our own pandemic that we haven't given the Avian Flu the attention it deserves.

I don't know what the outcome of all this will be, but I do hope that Emmanuel makes it.

This article seems to give some hope of improvement.
