Hamster rescue from water filled trap

Aqua the hamster is lucky to be alive. She was being used as bait in a live trap. The person who found her talked to the owner and though things would be okay. She came back the next day and Aqua's little box had filled with water and the hamster was struggling not to drown. This time she was taken to a small animal rescue called Popcorns and Binkies Rescue Haven. She is traumatized and just barely survived, but she is improving. People have expressed their desire to adopt Aua and give her a good home.

I have heard of people abandoning hamsters, but I have never heard of a hamster being used as bait for a live trap.
That is totally nasty.
