A town on a lake just north of Kansas city decided it didn't like the Canada Geese that were nesting there. So they rounded them up and had them killed.

They rounded them up now because they are molting and can't fly away. That is nasty. They went after them when they were vulnerable.
The geese would have babies now so they rounded them up when they have young to care for. Geese mate for life. Were they careful not to separate couples and leave behind a grieving mate.
The people who wanted the cull chose to move to a lake. The lake had geese. If you don't like geese and other shore birds, why move to a lake.
There are other less cruel ways to control goose populations. There are ways of disrupting the nesting so they can't multiply.
People's grass attracts geese. They love to graze. Different landscaping would be less attractive to the geese. There are ways of changing things enough that the geese won't be as big a problem. A trained dog would do a lot to control things.
If you don't like nature, why move to the country? This is another case of humans moving into an animal's territory and then calling the animal a nuisance.
We are the nuisance. We are a nuisance everywhere we move and the whole planet knows it.
