100 Snow Geese found shot

In southern Saskatchewan 100 snow geese were found shot to death in a slough. There bodies were just left there. There is nothing to indicate why they were killed.

This is very strange. If someone was hunting the geese, they would not have left the bodies. This just seems to be a senseless act of violence against animals.
But why snow birds. They are beautiful creatures. Why would anyone hate them.
