Who is cutting the fruit trees down?

An urban fruit farm in Vancouver BC was having a problem with vandals cutting down their fruit trees and stealing the fruit and the tree. When it kept happening they set up a camera. It was beavers. They wanted the tree and the fruit.
The people are now putting wire mesh around  the trunk of the trees they want to protect.

The beavers probably already have what they need. They are almost ready for winter.
After all tomorrow's full moon is the Beaver Moon. This is their time to be busy.
The first clue should have been the fact that they were only taking one tree at a time.
Then they were coming back the next night for more. 
I wonder if they will ever figure out were the dam is? It would be fun to watch it being built.
