Vandals paint the shells of two Gopher Tortoises
#1
For some reason someone has painted the shells of two Gopher Tortoises. Fortunately they were found and taken to the conservancy of South West Florida.
The paint could cause long term health issues for the reptiles. Their shells are living bone and they absorb UVB light through the shell.
The paint could also be toxic and be absorbed through the shell and harm the animals.
Work is being done to carefully remove the paint. The tortoises' health is being monitored and it is hoped they can be returned to the wild.

Who is so stupid that they think it is a good think to paint the Tortoise shell of a living tortoise.
They didn't even do a good job. It is just ugly paint spread on the shells. It really is vandalism and cruelty to animals. I hope they catch whoever did this and make them pay for what they have done.
